Biennial Conference will be held from 4pm on Tuesday 18 June to 1pm on Thursday 21 June in the Holiday Inn, Armada Way, Plymouth.
This page will hold information about the conference and in particular the motions the branch is proposing/seconding.
Conference business
As part of our work at conference we raise 2 types of motion one type is an amendment to the annual report which is changing policy already set out in the annual report or in rare cases to hold the executive to account the other type is a proposition which normally seeks to set new policy
This conference We have 2 Amendments to the report and 5 propositions one one of which we felt having such a public record of it would not be a good thing (member contact us if you want to know more)
We will update the site after each vote.
Para D16
should read “Connect should retain the death benefit.”
We felt that retaining the death benefit would be a positive thing and we are opposing the removal.
Para F7
Add to the end of the paragraph “Whilst recognising that the TUC already endorses and supports the campaigns of the International Labour Organisation, it is time to capitalise on the good work done to get public support for Fair Trade in foodstuffs and clothing. To that end the UK trade union movement should increase public awareness of ongoing issues of child labour, unfair recompense, poor health and safety etc. in the wide range of mining, manufacture and agriculture that supports the global economy. The ultimate objective should be to foster a comprehensive Fair Trade stance by all developed countries for the ethical procurement of all raw materials, goods and services, world-wide.”
We feel that expanding on the work done on fair trade with bt by our colleges in bt branches is good thing and need emphasising
